Air Force officer killed by wife and juvenile friend
A 40-year-old Air Force officer was strangled to death by his wife and her juvenile friend in Delhi Cantonment. The incident, that was initially hushed up as a heart-attack, turned out to be murder after the post-mortem report was out on May 4, 2014 following which the victim’s wife was placed under arrest and her friend apprehended on May 9.
“The incident took place on April 10, when Ramesh Chandra, an Air Force Sergeant, was strangled to death by his 28-year-old wife Sudha Gupta with the help of her juvenile friend,” said a police officer. It was polling day in Delhi and Mr. Chandra was at home.
He had been consuming alcohol since morning and by evening, he was heavily drunk. Sensing an opportunity, his wife called her juvenile friend, who entered the house and with his bare hands strangled Mr. Chandra.She then took him to a hospital in Subrato Park and told the doctors that her husband collapsed after complaining of chest pain.
Mr. Chandra was declared brought dead by doctors who then informed the police. The police team that reached the spot sensed foul play and sent the body for post-mortem.
“The post-mortem report, which was out on May 4, revealed that Mr. Chandra had died due to asphyxia following which a case of murder was registered and investigation was taken up,” said the officer.
“During investigation, we zeroed in on Mr. Chandra’s wife. On interrogation we found out that she killed her husband with the help of her juvenile friend. Following her confession, she was placed under arrest and the juvenile was apprehended,” he added. Mr. Chandra lived with his wife and their four-year-old daughter at a government quarter provided by the Air Force in the Subroto Park area of Delhi Cantonment. According to sources, Mr. Chandra’s wife was unhappy with him and had developed a relationship with a juvenile boy who lived in her neighbourhood.
Sudha Chandra has done her Master’s in Economics from Gorakhpur University and the juvenile is a Class X dropout.
