27-year old Pankaj Sancheti did not deserve to die. No man gets married to die.
In India, domestic violence on men is legal. The police will not file FIR or take cognizance of crimes against men committed by in-laws, even when evidence is presented.
The police will often tell on the face that they are told not to provide any protection, if wife or in-laws abuse, attack or threaten a man. Police will say, it is a marital dispute and they will only protect a woman, if she is attacked and it is not their policy to protect men, if he is abused by wife and in-laws.
One wonders, what kind of country we are living in, where we pay taxes and the Government refuses to provide men with protection.
Harassed by in-law man hangs himself
The 27-year-old man was constantly being pressurised by wife and father-in-law for money.
In another case of suicide in the city, a man ended his life after he was harassed by his wife and father-in-law. Twenty seven-year-old Pankaj Sancheti committed suicide on Wednesday in Thergaon after he was allegedly harassed about handing over the ownership of his flat to his wife.
In his FIR, Pankaj’s father says, “Pankaj was married to Poonam were both living at Saikrushna park in Vrundavan society near Dange chowk in Thergaon while Poonam’s father Premchand Nahar lives in Beed.
However soon after their marriage both his wife and his father-in-law started harassing him and they started pressuring him to handover ownership of the flat to Poonam. They even demanded Rs 5 lakhs from him.
Pankaj’s father alleges that Nahar would call him up and abuse him constantly, even claiming to harass him to the extent of distorting his marital life. “He was upset with the constant harassment and finally had enough of it and ended his life by hanging himself on the ceiling fan in his bedroom,” the father alleges.
